Friday 26 May 2017
It’s a busy time for Arnaud Boissières, who on Monday 22 May, relaunched the boat with which he completed the Vendée Globe 2016-2017 in 10th place. The 2007 Farr design will be sporting fancy new colours: “La Mie Câline-Artipôle”. At the end of the year, Arnaud will participate in the Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Manuel Cousin to whom he is selling his boat. For his part, Arnaud is hoping to purchase a more competitive IMOCA with a view to the Vendée Globe 2020…
Having completed his third consecutive Vendée Globe on 17 February 2017, in 10th position, Arnaud Boissières promptly launched into a refit to overhaul his IMOCA La Mie Câline. The shore team busied themselves with a thorough check-up and repairs to ensure the boat is fighting fit for the upcoming season. On 23 May, sporting her new colours, the boat returned to her port of registry: Les Sables d’Olonne.
Two main joint partners alongside Arnaud Boissières
Arnaud Boissières aspires to a more competitive project for his future sports projects. La Mie Câline, Arnaud’s main partner during the 2016 campaign, is continuing to work alongside him to help make that happen and already it has opened its doors to a joint partnership venture. Artipôle (a French firm of 30 ORCAB cooperative showrooms, a buying group for skilled craftsmen from the building industry), a previous sponsor in 2016, has decided to renew its commitment to the adventure, teaming up with La Mie Câline as joint partner for the next four years.
The Transat Jacques Vabre 2017 with Manuel Cousin, whilst awaiting the purchase of a more modern boat…
As a result, Arnaud’s team will be flying the flag of La Mie Câline-Artipôle for their upcoming races, with the first major event being the Transat Jacques Vabre 2017 (leaving Le Havre on 5 November, bound for Salvador de Bahia).
“Cali”will compete in this race alongside Manuel Cousin, skipper of Groupe Setin. The collaboration between the two racers is not insignificant since Manuel Cousin is none other than the future owner of the boat on which the two men will cross the Atlantic. Indeed, Manuel, a former Class40 competitor, has signed up for a campaign with his partner Groupe Setin, which will carry him through to the next Vendée Globe.
With the purchase of a more competitive boat, Arnaud will be competing in the Route du Rhum 2018, the Transat Jacques Vabre 2019 and the Vendée Globe 2020.
