EKKA YACHTS, the brand representative of Sanlorenzo Yachts for Greece is delighted to announce today the signing of a new-building contract for the sale of the 10th unit of the 500EXP superyacht, due for delivery in June of 2023. The news follow the company’s recent announcement of signing an exclusivity agreement to represent the Italian yacht builder’s Sanlorenzo Yachts and Bluegame brands in Greece.
The sale of the 10th (yard number 146) unit of the successful 500EXP series marks a few important milestones for both EKKA and Sanlorenzo: EKKA Yachts’ first superyacht sale with Sanlorenzo, Sanlorenzo’s largest-ever new-building yacht to be delivered in Greece, EKKA Yachts’ second new-building contract over 37 meters (120’) in 2021, as well as the largest new-building sale to a Greek client since 2014.
According to Dimitris Kyriazakos, Managing director of EKKA Yachts who brokered the sale, the 500-146 sets the ground for a very unique expression of the extremely successful 500EXP platform, that will set new standards in the market in terms of build-quality, onboard livability, guest entertainment, as well as exploration capabilities – the result of a rigorous two-month specking and designing period between the builder and the buyer’s very demanding and experienced technical team, leading up to the agreement.
The 499 gross-ton superyacht will feature an ultra high specification and is expected to be the highest spec explorer yacht ever built by the yard. She will comply to ABS class for commercial use, including ACCU and ENVIRO notations and meet the latest and most demanding environmental requirements for commercial yachting.
The 500EXP model boasts four and a half decks of luxurious accommodation, coupled with unbeatable tender and toy carrying facilities - courtesy of her explorer-style quarterdeck which features a 7.5 ton concealable hydraulic crane as well as a 42 sq.m. beach area and a 18 sq. m. bathing platform.
Hull n. 146 will include technical and comfort features never found on a 500 EXP model before. Accommodation will be provided for 14 guests in six luxurious staterooms, with crew accommodation provided for 9 members in 5 cabins.
“We are extremely proud to be witnessing such impressive and immediate results following our recent decision to partner-up with Sanlorenzo. We are even more enthused by the level of commitment and expertise the superyacht division has demonstrated in addressing a very demanding and knowledgeable Greek client from the top tier of commercial shipping.” proclaimed Dimitris Kyriazakos.

For over 60 years, Sanlorenzo shipyards has been building high quality motoryachts designed and made-to-measure according to the owner’s specific requests, thanks to the perfect bond between craftsmanship and advanced technology. Founded in 1958 by Gianfranco Cecchi and Giuliano Pecchia who opened the first shipyard near Florence, Sanlorenzo was taken over in 1972 by Giovanni Jannetti who launched the first fiberglass hull boat in 1985 and moved the headquarters to Ameglia (SP) in 1999. In 2005, Massimo Perotti -thanks to the deep experience gained in over twenty years of activity in the sector -took the baton. Thanks to the management of Mr. Massimo Perotti, Chairman of Sanlorenzo, the shipyard has gone through a period of extraordinary growth, bringing consolidated net revenues from new yachts to a level of 40 million euros in 2004 to 457,7 million euros in 2020.
As one of the main producers worldwide of yachts and superyachts, Sanlorenzo has today four production plants: La Spezia, dedicated to the production of Superyachts, Ameglia for the production of medium and large size yachts, Viareggio, for the production of fiberglass yachts over 100 feet and Massa, the center for the research and development of new models. Guided by his resolution and entrepreneurial perspective, Mr. Perotti, has introduced in Sanlorenzo some actual innovations which have revolutionised the world of yachting. A major milestone in this journey was its opening to the world of design through the collaboration with renown designers such as Dordoni Architetti, Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, Piero Lissoni (Sanlorenzo’s Art Director since 2018), Patricia Urquiola, John Pawson and Christian Liaigre. This unique, innovative approach has also led the company, over the years, to bond with the world of art through the collaborations with major Galleries and cultural institutions. In 2018 Sanlorenzo has entered a global partnership agreement with Art Basel, the leading art fair for modern and contemporary art for the annual events in Hong Kong, in Basel and Miami Beach. In 2020, Sanlorenzo also becomes the Institutional Patron of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the most important museum in Italy for European and American 20th-century art.
