ePropulsion, a global leader and market challenger in marine electric propulsion systems and services, today announced its industry-first, self-charging, hydrogeneration electric propulsion solution across its new range of EVO models for 2021. These highly innovative electric propulsion solutions, once again underscore ePropulsion’s position in the marketplace as a pioneer and true engineering innovator.
Whether an auxiliary motor for a sailboat or an outboard for tenders, this highly innovative, self-charging functionality enables reverse charging of the motor battery, allowing it to charge while sailing or towing at speeds between 4 and 10 knots.
The established Spirit and Navy ePropulsion product lines have also all evolved with the announcement of the all-new Spirit 1.0 EVO, Navy 3.0 EVO and Navy 6.0 EVO models available from early 2021.
In addition to these brand-new models and ePropulsion enhancing its full product line with hydrogeneration capabilities, other notable innovations for 2021 include 48-volt architecture, safety wristbands, a new ergonomic tiller and direct-drive brushless motors, resulting in better performance and greater noise reduction.
Danny Tao, CEO of ePropulsion, said: “We have been hard at work designing and innovating these new models and are really pleased with the results. We have updated the entire ePropulsion line for 2021, offering new features and capabilities across the board along with the addition of a brand-new 9.9HP Pod Drive model. We have also been listening carefully to our customers to understand what features they are looking for in our Spirit 1.0, Navy 3.0, and Navy 6.0 products. Our 2021 line-up includes the most innovative, powerful, versatile and advanced electric propulsion technologies on the market, and we are confident customers and owners will be delighted.”
A key innovation of the ePropulsion product line is that all outboards are built on a 48V platform, allowing for a greater degree of flexibility. ePropulsion E-Series batteries are designed to provide optimal performance for the entire range of Evo series engines and to make ownership easy. The E-Series batteries provide consistent performance and smart operation, delivering up to 3,000 charging cycles. The Spirit was the first floating battery available in the market.
While kill-switch lanyards are vital for safety, in practical use many boaters find them inconvenient. By offering easy-to-wear safety wristbands, the ePropulsion Evo series increases safety and vital emergency shut-down capabilities.
The new Evo tiller is compatible with most ePropulsion outboard motors. It is an ergonomic, comfortable, responsive and adaptive tiller that vastly improves boating experiences. The integrated display keeps users informed of key information such as power, voltage, remaining runtime and battery level along with a backlit display for easy nighttime use.
Product models for 2021 include:
The Spirit models offer superior portability and range and are the lightest ePropulsion outboard motors created to-date. The Spirit range has been ePropulsion’s best-selling models since 2015. The new Spirit Evo features an integrated battery and folding tiller and due to its compact form, users can install them in one minute.
The Navy Evo is a light-duty outboard series that is available in two power levels, 3kW and 6kW. New for model year 2021, the Navy 6.0 Evo has a brushless direct-drive motor ensuring the entire range benefits from the high reliability and low operating noise of this technology. Based on the ePropulsion 48V platform, the highly integrated and affordable E-Series LFPis the primary battery choice for the Navy electric outboards.
The ePropulsion Pod Drive Evo series is a light-duty marine propulsion system that eliminates shafts. Offered in three models – 1kW, 3kW and 6kW – the direct-drive Pod Drive series require minimum cabin space and operate without any noise. New for 2021 is the 6kW Pod Drive 6.0 Evo, which provides sailors with a new environmentally friendly solution to replace internal combustion outboards. Folding props are available upon request.
