Onda Tenders expands propulsion choice on its 10-metre open tender with a range of new inboard engine options. Check it out at next Cannes and Monaco shows this September.
Hot on the heels of its 331 Gran Turismo (331GT) launch in June, Onda Tenders has announced further details about its newest version of the fully customizable 10-metre open tender, which features twin inboard engines.
By moving the engines under a sunpad at the stern, the powerful yet comfortable boat delivers multiple benefits to superyacht owners and crew – both practically and from an aesthetical perspective.
Increasing convenience for superyacht crew
The introduction of diesel inboard engines significantly increases convenience for superyacht crew, as the tender is able to share a fuel supply with the mothership. This eradicates the need for storage of petrol as a second fuel type, freeing up space on the superyacht as well as reducing paperwork and the need to monitor additional supply levels.
An attractive and slick look
From an aesthetical perspective, moving the engines out of sight gives an attractive and slick look to the 331GT that is preferred by many yacht owners. The beautiful profile created by the designers at Scandinavia-based Mannerfelt Design Team is able to stand out, free from the distraction of outboard engines at the rear.
Additional space
In terms of guest experience on the 331GT inboard version, additional space freed up by the lowering of the engines means an extra-large sunpad is now found at the stern of the tender, with a large swimming platform for at-anchor fun. The newly enhanced aft area will be a magnet for guests wishing to relax and enjoy the views, both while at anchor and underway. Access to the engines remains easy and practical, through a large electrically-operated engine hatch beneath the cushion of the sunpad.
A choice of two inboard engine brands
Onda offers a choice of two inboard engine brands to clients, each of which delivers a number of benefits depending on preferences and needs. Yanmar is the preferred inboard brand for many superyachts, based on their reliability and renowned after-sales service. Even when fully loaded with 12 people onboard, the Yanmar 331GT can easily get onto a plane for an efficient and smooth ride while maintaining a top speed of over 50 knots! Alternatively, clients with a need for speed may opt for highly powerful twin 370hp Mercury engines, which promise an exhilarating ride of above 70 knots.
Available for sea trials in Cannes and Monaco
The first inboard unit of the Onda 331GT will feature Yanmar engines. It will be on display and available for sea trials to qualified buyers and media at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival (10–15 September) and Monaco Yacht Show (25–28 September).
“Having worked with all kinds of yacht and superyacht owners over the last 40 years, through our sister company Riginos Yachts, we understand that there is a market for both inboard and outboard engines on the Onda 331GT,” comments George Riginos, Onda Tenders CEO. “Inboard engines are very popular for superyacht tenders, so it was a natural move to introduce this as another option on the fully customizable tender. We are all about making life easier for our clients by offering the right kinds of features on our beautifully designed and engineered boats.”
ABOUT THE ONDA 331GT
With a fully customizable modular design, the Onda Tenders 331GT allows owners to create their ideal boat, with a wide range of practical features rarely available on yacht tenders.
Onda employs a trademark smart design approach which combines engineering expertise and extraordinary seaworthiness with state-of-the-art composite hulls and excellent craftsmanship. The result is a tender that can achieve high speeds without compromise to comfort or safety. The 331GT follows in the footsteps of Onda’s limousine tender, which was also designed by the award-winning luminaries at Mannerfelt Design Team.
Thanks to its two-step, deep-V hull and smaller, lighter engines, fuel consumption on the 331GT is reduced while the performance, range and potential for speed are uncompromised. Complementing the efficient design, vacuum infusion technology keeps the hull light while the vinyl ester material delivers a more robust seakeeping ability than carbon fiber alternatives.
With a beam of 2.95m and high gunwales, the 331GT’s large internal width has a fully customizable modular design, alongside numerous adaptable features that give flexibility of use. A convertible table to the aft of the boat can transform the U-shaped seating from a dining space to a lounging space with coffee table, or it can disappear entirely should more deck space be needed.
Both inboard and outboard versions are available, as is a wide range of decking, hull, tube and upholstery options. Being a fully customizable superyacht tender, many aesthetic elements and colours can be adapted to match the mothership.
